Blogging, creative content writing & editing
"The role of a writer is not to say what we can all say, but what we are unable to say." – Anaïs Nin
I wrote my first novel at age ten, originally entitled The Haunted House, with all of my friends in it, and my two dogs in leading roles.
I have always been an avid reader and writer, even editing boyfriends' love letters for poor grammar and spelling. I was later awarded a Rhodes scholarship to study literature after matric.
My mother thought there was nothing worse than having a writer in the family. She was wrong. Making the first of many dubious life choices after an argument, I instead went to Johannesburg to get a degree in Equine Science.
I spent the next ten years using my writing skills to amuse friends on social media while I climbed the ranks of the dressage world, competing and coaching at a high level. An equestrian publication, Gauteng Horse Mag, signed me on at beginning 2015, and so began The Off Side, a behind-the-scenes column in the horse world. This snowballed and branched into several other opportunities, including corporate PR for companies like Woolworths, press releases for Legacy magazine, social media and editing for several smaller companies, as well as becoming editor and social media manager for a new publication, Equilife.
